Welcome from Mike Lavin, Project Coordinator

Killarney Shebanoning Outdoor Environmental Education Centre (KSOEEC) is nestled into the scenic port community of Killarney on the northeastern shore of Georgian Bay. The town is bound on all sides by wilderness and water, making it the perfect place to host outdoor environmental education.

I have lived there for the past 10 years, while working as the Natural Heritage Education Coordinator for Killarney Provincial Park, and found that Killarney has become the most familiar and cherished place that I have ever taught in. I bring to the centre my 20 years of experience in outdoor/environmental education and teaching from a variety of education facilities and communities in and around Georgian Bay.

My enthusiasm and joy for this incredible opportunity for our students and community is as high as my hopes and expectations for the centre. Please call the centre (287-2712) or email me at michael.lavin@sudburycatholicschools.ca if you have any questions or ideas to share about our developing curriculum based programming, Aboriginal Education classroom and demonstration area or our vast trail systems and access to Killarney Provincial Park.

Mike Lavin,
Coordinator
